David Servant – founder of Shepherd Serve

David ServantWhen David Servant read the results of his high-school vocational aptitude test, he laughed. The results told him that he was best suited for a career in ministry or in entertainment. At the time, David’s future goal was to live in a log cabin in the wilderness and live off the land for the rest of his life.

The Lord, however, had different plans for David Servant. God didn’t intend for him to run away from the world, but rather to play a part in changing the world—by building God’s kingdom. David received his call to ministry during his (reluctant) freshman year at Penn State, and one year later was enrolled in Bible School.

Upon graduation, David and his new bride, Becky, pioneered their first church in David’s hometown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. That was more than thirty years ago.

Over the years, David and Becky Servant pioneered and pastored three churches, all three of which were very missions-oriented. David often traveled internationally to teach in pastors’ conferences, during which time he developed numerous ministry friends in scores of developing nations.

When David was serving at his third pastorate, Jesus’ words in Matthew 25—the foretelling of the future judgment of the sheep and the goats—caught his heart, and that birthed a transformation in his ministry. Heaven’s Family was the result, launched in 2002.

David Servant is the author of eight books, including Forever Rich, and the The Disciple-Making Minister, a 500-page equipping manual that has been translated into more than 20 languages and is being distributed to tens of thousands of pastors.

David and Becky have been married for 32 years. They have three grown children and two grandchildren.

Who is Dan Corner? David Servant’s Debate With This False Teacher

Several years ago, false teacher Dan Corner posted slanderous accusations on his website against David Servant, labeling him as a false teacher due to a doctrinal disagreement over the subject of the security of a Christian’s salvation. Dan also put David’s life in danger by deliberately publishing his real name instead of the pseudonym David uses for security reasons.

David Servant contacted Dan Corner in the hope of resolving the conflict, but to no avail. To this day, Dan maliciously attacks David through the content on his website, Evangelical Outreach. Dan is also quick to condemn just about every other Bible teacher due to his very unique, fringe theology about the security of a Christian’s salvation.

Dan believes that if a genuine Christian commits the sin of lust, they will instantly lose their salvation and would go to hell if they died before repenting. He also believes that this same Christian could immediately regain their salvation if they were to repent. Ultimately, this means that a Christian could fall in and out of salvation on a daily basis and thousands of times during their lifespan. This strange teaching discounts God’s grace and is a far cry from the merciful and patient God revealed in Scripture.

Bible teacher David Servant addresses Dan Corner’s very strange views on this subject in the following in-depth article: Dan Corner’s Strange Acid Test

To read David’s views on the subject of a Christian’s security, you can read his book The Great Gospel Deception online for free.

Below is a portion of David Servant’s initial response to Dan Corner’s slanderous accusations:

Although we both teach against the doctrine of unconditional eternal security or “once-saved-always-saved,” Dan Corner believes that a Christian who lusts, for example, instantly dies spiritually, forfeits the indwelling Holy Spirit and loses sonship in Christ. If he was to die one second after lusting, he would be cast into hell according to Dan Corner.

I do not at all agree with Dan Corner in that regard simply because the Bible doesn’t teach such a strange doctrine. Certainly unrepentant adultery will prevent a Christian from inheriting God’s Kingdom when he stands judgment before Christ (see 1 Cor. 6:0-9-10), but a Christian who lusts does not instantly die spiritually and so on as Dan Corner teaches.

Dan Corner slanderously misrepresents my teaching, claiming that I teach that a Christian can occasionally and unrepentedly commit adultery, murder and so on, and still go to heaven (which I don’t believe or teach). And for this, he awarded me his “Skull and Crossbones Award.” I, as well as others, have done our best to try to persuade Dan Corner that he has misrepresented my teaching, but he apparently knows better what I teach than I do.

For no apparent reason, Dan Corner also posted my website pseudonym along with my actual name in his misrepresentation of my teaching, putting my life and the lives of Christians with whom I work in restricted nations in danger. So I immediately wrote to him.

In conclusion, is Dan Corner someone you should be listening to? No. Dan’s teaching will rob you of any legitimate assurance of salvation you might have and distort your view of God, causing you to fear being disowned by Him the moment you fail. Dan does not understand the grace of God and shows a lack of love through the way he maliciously attacks those who disagree with him.

Dan Corner from Evangelical Outreach – A False Teacher

Dan Corner – A False Teacher with a Strange “Acid Test”

by David Servant

Dan Corner, who has a website dedicated primarily to his teaching against the doctrine of unconditional eternal security (or “once-saved-always-saved”), has bestowed upon me what he refers to as his “Skull and Crossbones Award,” granted to those whom he deems to be guilty of spiritually-deadly teaching. The exact words on his website are, “David Servant, license for immorality teacher, gets the Skull and Crossbones Award for saying King David didn’t lose his salvation with adultery and murder.”

Dan Corner believes that if a genuine Christian commits adultery or murder, he instantly “loses his salvation.” In fact, Dan Corner believes that if a genuine Christian commits the sin of lust, he instantly “loses his salvation.” If, however, in either case, the sinning Christian repents, he immediately “gets his salvation back.” So according to Dan Corner, one could potentially forfeit and then regain salvation thousands of times, even tens of thousands of times, during one’s lifespan.

Of course, if a Christian was to “lose his salvation,” that would mean that he would die spiritually and become a spiritual child of Satan, as there are no other alternatives to being either a spiritual child of God or a spiritual child of the devil. Such a person would also instantly forfeit his former forgiven state, as well as the indwelling Holy Spirit. And if he was to die before repenting, he would go to hell. All of these consequences would be part of “losing one’s salvation.”
