Here is yet another miracle of healing recorded in Matthew’s gospel, and once again, faith was clearly a component in the outcome. We can learn much from studying what these two blind did that resulted in their regaining sight.

The deliverance of the madman of Gadara resulted in the deaths of perhaps thousands of pigs, as well as perhaps tens of thousands of dollars of profits for those who owned the pigs. This certainly reveals what Jesus values most.

As Jesus sent out the twelve to preach the gospel in Galilee, He knew they wouldn’t always be warmly welcomed. So He prepared them for the inevitable. His instructions to them have application to all of us whom God is sending with His message to the world.

Returning to Capernaum, Jesus performed a special miracle that would compel Israel’s religious leaders to come, see Him and make a decision about who He was. Once they’d gathered, He proved before their eyes that He was God in the flesh, the One who has authority to forgive sins.
