It seems that Jesus finally lost patience with the Pharisees as they asked Him to perform a sign shortly after He had performed a miracle they themselves said only the Messiah could perform. Jesus still promised them one final sign. What would it be?

At the very least, the worries of this world, the deceitfulness of riches, and the desire for other things can rob believers of all spiritual life and fruit, and at worst can ultimately rob believers of salvation.

In setting up “fence laws” to keep people from working on the Sabbath, the Pharisees failed to understand the most important fact about the Sabbath—God’s reason for creating it. When we understand God’s reasons for His commandments, we are much more apt to keep the spirit of the law, and not just the letter.
